Update on Marriners Falls

A representative of the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning who organised the new survey of Marriners Falls. The report will be presented to Parks Victoria in about a month. It takes a different approach to the Parks report, which was an arborist’s report, and is a geomorphological report.

We have requested a copy however it will be an internal document. Parks would be consulting with the community and the document will have to be made public. They have been informed that a Friends of Marriners Falls Group had been formed and that the community could not understand that after being open for a hundred years with only one accident why it was considered so dangerous now.

It has been highlighted that Great Ocean Road Regional Tourism Board is preparing and publishing destination management and marketing plans for Apollo Bay and they all refer to Marriners Falls and the importance of keeping local attractions open.

So, although there was no indication of the outcome of the survey it seems we will be hearing more about this very soon.
